I don't know where to begin! I've had a very busy month...

So firstly I was very lucky to exhibit work at D&AD New Blood AND New Designers, to which I received some great feedback and opportunities from.
I graduated with a 2:1 in BA Hons Illustration, which I am completely over the moon about.
I've been working on and setting up my own website which will be finished and going online hopefully this week - I've uploaded a little sneak preview.
And I am now part of a collective which I will go into detail about in another post, when I have a chance to upload some work...

It feels weird knowing that I wont be going back to Uni this year, it's sort of just hit me and sunk in.

This week I have been so busy at the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, London, with my Degree Show. Here's a photo of my space which I'm really pleased with and proud of. The exhibition runs until Monday 6th June, featuring a lots of really talented Illustrators, Graphic Designers, Photographers and so much more, so if you're around in the London area go and have a look because the work is UNREAL.

3 of 4 final colour spreads for a brief at uni...better quality scans and with some changes. My tutor suggested that i change any metallic or glitter card i'd used so i swapped those and i'm hoping i can get away with the small bits of holographic style card and a lot of the vinyl wood grain paper. All in all, it's alright.

Two new pairs of shoes...oh no. First ones are Jeffrey Campbell Foxy Platforms in Cheetah, which i got for £30(!!!!!!!!) in the Office sale, how lucky is that! They're a size too big but i can get around that for 30 bar. And the second ones are Topshop Libby, really comfy and i can't believe they're not sold out yet - look at em.

I handed in a lot of work for my assessment today so will be uploading some stuff Friday or at the weekend when i get it back...

This is my final poster for the accessories at Selfridges brief. After speaking with my Tutor she suggested i change the block type (NEW HATS/SHOES/BAGS) to match the colour i'd highlighted to get full use of it, which made sense. All that's left to do now with this is print them and see how they come out.

So this is my poster for shoes at Selfridges. My brief was to only use three colours (not including black and white) so i've chosen yellow, pink and a skin colour. Originally i wanted to include three different tones of skin colour but realised that wouldn't fit the brief, so i've chosen a bright colour to represent that. Really effin hard to only use three colours and i still can't decide whether or not i like the blue better than the pink...

I was meant to have finished these sooner but having glandular fever does set you back :( so now i have a remaining 4 roughs to get finished and to get ETCHED AND PRINTED - hopefully by the end of next week. Also the bottom drawing of Papa and Liesel looking out of the window at a Warner's ghost on the roof tops hasn't scanned in too well, but i'll replace that soon.

Here are a set of 8 badges i've made for my Christmas shop at Uni, which will go on sale from next Monday. I've got another set that i'd still like to make which are also animal related! The badges are made from shrinkle paper and have a brooch back. Hopefully they'll raise some cashish for our degree show next year. Boom.

Here is my contribution to the Kingsgate Gallery Exhibition. We went drawing up Edgware Road and i found this little row of houses just round the corner. I've used paper for the colour, a black 0.1 fine liner and a white gel pen. I hope it gets picked, although i might add colour to the third house cos something doesn't look right...

CHRIST. Here is the pitiful group of drawings/collages i'm handing in tomorrow as my 'Summer Project'. The project title was 'How I Got Here', in which we had to create work that tells our third year tutor how we got to do the type of illustration we do. So i thought of making two books - a Nan book and a Grandad book, as my Nan has always been a seamstress and makes things - i like sewing and using fabric etc, and my Grandad collects things as do I etc.

Yet in true GLT style, i left this to the last minute and havn't finished the Nan book so i shall only be handing in Grandad. POO.

Here's a sneak peek of my Grandad Book. I've tried to set it out like a vinyl because my grandad is the biggest Elvis fan probably in the whole of the UK, if not Tottenham. The end pages, which you can just see a bit of, are made from this really old note paper i got from a charity shop ages ago - good find. More on it's way tomorrow.

back in november i had a brief which was to read the books 'alice's adventures in wonderland' and 'pefume' and then make a book cover for each of them. after catching severe viral gastroenteritis from wood green kebab centre, i missed a week and a half of uni and therefore working on this brief. i should have really caught up during the christmas break, maybe even the easter one but i'mlazy and stupid so i'm trying to finish it all now in time for my assessments. so these are some initial collage drawings of the mad hatter and queen of hearts. i hate book covers and have no idea where to start...FML.

for my dad's birthday we went on our little annual trip to newquay. i've got such a soft spot for newquay mainly cos i've spent most of my childhood holiday's there. we ate in rick stein's, which was the best food i've ever eaten in my life, ate loadsa fudge, had lie ins and watched effin paranormal activity aswell as twilight. i loved it.

THE QUEEN'S DIAMOND JUBILEE

around november, martin decided to set us all a personal project. he wanted me to design and make a promotional pack for the queen's diamond jubilee in 2012. i did really like the sound of it and had a few ideas, but along with the rest of the class, i left it till last minute and ended up making something rushed and half finished. none the less, i think it's ok.

basically, it's a 3D diamond which opens up to a little pack containing a sash (just like the queen's!!) with a badge inside to put on it, and the whole idea is to collect different badges and brooches to fill the sash. i did want to put some other little stuff in there too, which i will get round to doing at some point. this is it anyway.

you can't really see it that well, but this is a screen print of the collage drawing i made of conjoined twins. i used a CMYK process so had to separate the image into four different sections, and then print the colours separately and on top of each other. i've got to do another 3 i think. FML.

so here are a few pics from NEW YORK. to be honest, i was expecting it to be a lot better than what it was. i was looking forward to something like sex and the city and loads of character, but all it seemed like was tall buildings and busy, straight roads. i'm not saying i didn't enjoy myself, but i definitely feel that london has a lot more to offer and reeks of character. the last photo is by turbs, and the first one by b.

Our last brief before christmas was to make some artist books based on a number of titles. I decided to make a response to the title 'Look & Learn'. My idea was to hang books from a pair of glasses and inside the books would be things you can learn i.e. sign language, soooo you put the glasses on, look and learn. The books spell out look and then i made little discs with learn on them to hang underneath.

I made this last year and thought i'd lost it forever but found it on a little usb stick. It took ages and drawing all of those different angles of the camera made me want to kill myself.

Cathedral Candles

These are the candles that i transferred my cathedrals on to. I used image maker which is why on some of the candles you can still see some of the white paper (i've washed these about 6 times already). Basically, the brief was to make your own scale based on the 'alpenglow scale', using 10 Italian words to describe each point of the scale, ranging from pale to magnificent, or something like that. So i based my scale on how long cathedrals took to build, with the magnificent being 600 years and the palest being 6 years. I choose the candles as i thought that when you burn them it would represent how long the cathedrals took to make, for example, the largest candle would take months whereas the smallest would take a day. Overall i think they're alright.

Cathedrals. Brick by effin brick. Just one of these, or even a half took me around 3-4 hours. I drew them all with a 0.1 fine liner and then transferred the images onto church candles, which i will post soon. The larger drawings have a very dodgy middle as i mirrored them in photoshop and obviously my drawing skills aren't the best.

...a prop stylist/prop maker/set design(ish). I do love illustration, but i love things, making things and putting things together (sort of like my bookshelf). All of this work is examples of prop stylist/set designer Liselotte Watkins. She does some illustration too which makes me think that i can do what she does because she's dabbled in illustration as well. Life's too short aint it.

Cheshunt Park 'Festival of Fireworks'

On Sunday me and my friends went to Cheshunt Park fireworks. I've been going now near enough every year and i love it. Used to be more fun when we were younger and used to sneak in though.

I bought this piece of head gear from Topshop a while ago and it was in the SALE. I havn't worn it out yet, mainly because im scared that people like 'Phil Hughes' will steal it and ruin it. Phil LOVES an accessory. I might wear it out tomorrow night for halloween.

Purple Badges

Ok, so if you havn't already guessed i've been busy with uni work. First project that kicked us off was 'Purple". My tutor each gave us a colour and we had to research into it and produce a final that represented the importance and magic of the colour. I was a bit pissed at having purple, mainly because everyone else had really interesting colours that i've never heard of and sounded so nice. But anyways, i found out that purple represented wealth and royalty as well as being chosen for the 'Purple Heart' medal, which is awarded to american soldiers who are wounded or killed fighting for America. Sooooo i decided to make royal-like badges. I did sew on some little things that i've collected, but took them off because i'm going to attach nice little photos onto them instead.

Project no.5 - Barca Book

This page i used as a 'drunk page' and wanted my friends, who baring in mind, are all art students to draw something on it and i got a scribbled out moo face, an american football and a salami breath man. I like the salami breath one though.

So here is my Barca Book. I used an old diary that i bought from a booty as a sketchbook because i thought it would be a nice little thing to use and i've been waiting for a good reason to use it. I tried to fill it with bits and bobs as well as drawings so it's a bit packed out, but i'm going to use it for whenever i have my next holiday so it'll be even thicker. I had a really good time but as you can see by the weird luggage tags on the last page, my effin case got left in Barcelona. I'm not gona lie, i cried like a baby. I had about a third of my proudest 'vintage' collected clothes and stuff in there but THANK CHRIST it's back by my side. The baggy baggage man was so pessimistic and made it sound like it was gone forever. It's seriously making me consider not ever taking a case on holiday, just a small hand luggage one or something, so it's always by my side, safe and sound. Anyway, i had the best time.

So this is project no.4. I'm such a disgrace. Only four projects in the space of...5 months ish? Anyway, these are 'dog tags'. My friend Ollie's getting a pup and i thought i'd draw some dogs to brainstorm possible new names or something like that. Not very imaginative but they'll do.

I love this envelope. I've really wanted to buy one of these for ages, but thought they were too good for ebay. So now, finally, i have a real reason to use one. It's from London Graphics Centre and was only about £1.45 i think. They do them in loads of different colours and sizes too. The head thing i bought from a car boot sale for 15p. I've got another one too just incase i need a small child's head for anything. They're gona ruin this at the post office though with their crappy white labels.

Oh Ke. So here is 'the massive' sketchbook project. I made the book with fabric and card and sewed in the pages and just drew in it. I mostly drew people i know without heads but i'm not sure why, and then i got a bit carried away and put anything in there. It's not the best but at least i've whacked another one out of the way. I'm so lazy. Actually i'm not, i'm just working full time at Tesco and it's killing me.

So this is the second thing i've made to send off to my tutor and it's so basic and small but i'm planning on making quite a big one for the third, something like a WHOLE sketchbook....of about 10 pages?

The little bear brooch is just drawn onto fabric and padded. I used a paper bag for the envelope because i went crazy a few months ago and bought about £40 worth of these striped paper bags in different colours and sizes. I thought they'd come in handy if i ever live my dream of owning some sort of shop or making some sort of zine thing and i can put it in one of these. I seriously have thousands.

I collect everything and i feel like taking pictures of everything i collect. Shoes is obviously one of the things i collect. I hope so any way, otherwise i might have a shoe fetish?

Nanny Flag

This is a little flag thing that i've made to send to my tutor for our summer brief. I've been really bad and only made this so far and still have another 5 things to make! But i'm going to churn them all out now over the remainder of July and the whole of August so i'm not that bad am i? Or am i? I duno.

The flags are made from different patterned fabrics and are double sided, it's not neatly made but i wanted it to have a rough-ish look. Just got to think of how to package it now.
