MY WEBSITE HAS GONE LIVE!

I've finally gotten around to setting my websites URL, www.gemmatravis.co.uk is now live! I have a few more ideas and work to add to it but it's getting there...so make sure you have a look.

✿HELLO✿

I don't know where to begin! I've had a very busy month...

• So firstly I was very lucky to exhibit work at D&AD New Blood AND New Designers, to which I received some great feedback and opportunities from.
• I graduated with a 2:1 in BA Hons Illustration, which I am completely over the moon about.
• I've been working on and setting up my own website which will be finished and going online hopefully this week - I've uploaded a little sneak preview.
• And I am now part of a collective which I will go into detail about in another post, when I have a chance to upload some work...

It feels weird knowing that I wont be going back to Uni this year, it's sort of just hit me and sunk in.

This week I have been so busy at the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, London, with my Degree Show. Here's a photo of my space which I'm really pleased with and proud of. The exhibition runs until Monday 6th June, featuring a lots of really talented Illustrators, Graphic Designers, Photographers and so much more, so if you're around in the London area go and have a look because the work is UNREAL.

These are my new and improved Selfridges posters. After looking at my old ones with my Tutor (and her ripping them to shreds!) she asked me to apply my collage style of working to them instead of using a digital approach. So these are two different layouts for each...

These are some images in response to another of my sister's poems. With this poem, my sister chose clippings and headlines from a newspaper to make a poem reflecting a sort of binge culture British family...These will eventually be placed among text for the final view of the poem.

Here are some images i managed to scan in from a poem i am illustrating, written by my sister. The poem is all about stupid things George Bush has said in his speeches. The drawings are made from different textures of paper and drawn on top with pencil...more to post soon.

✿ CAT HILL CAT

In a few months my uni campus 'Cat Hill' will be crushed to the ground :( so in memory of my 3 years there i decided to draw Mr Cat Hill who lived at my uni in hope that it will be selected for a book which will published about the memories of the campus. Bye cat! Bye uni!

✄ FINISHED MCMILLAN SPREADS...3/4

3 of 4 final colour spreads for a brief at uni...better quality scans and with some changes. My tutor suggested that i change any metallic or glitter card i'd used so i swapped those and i'm hoping i can get away with the small bits of holographic style card and a lot of the vinyl wood grain paper. All in all, it's alright.

These are some more rough pages from my book for my Mcmillan brief. Still got some stuff to tweak and add but i'm QUITE pleased with how they look...so far.

☂ NYLON SUBSCRIPTION ☂

One of the best things i have ever spent money on is my Nylon subscription. Makes my usual post of bills/overdraft charges/charges in general a bit nicer and the magazine is boom! Definitely my favourite.

SOME WORK FOR MCMILLAN BRIEF...

Here is a preview of a double page spread i'm working on for my latest brief at uni. My tutors wanted me to make a book like how i map my work in sketch books so that's what i'm aiming for! SELFRIDGES POSTERS...RE-VISITED...

After looking at my Selfridges posters with my tutor, she wanted to know why i didn't carry over my collage way of working in them. So i have decided to give them another go, ignoring the fact that they will be digital prints, and concentrating on collage and texture...on a Saturday night...
